Quilt Wall - Red, White and Blue Little Quilt

Red, White and Blue Little Quilt
Long ago, (so long ago), I did this quilt. When my father was very sick and after he lost his battle, this is the quilt that I worked on. I quilted and quilted it. I filled so many hours. I remember having so much to do and not being able to do anything but sit and quilt on this little wall quilt.Red, White and Blue Little Quilt
It was some months later and I put it in an area quilt show and over heard someone said, "You'd have to be nuts to quilt like that." You know I was, but in it's way this quilt brought me back.

Red, White and Blue Little Quilt
Years ago, (12 years) this magazine was very popular, and this little quilt of mine was on the cover, a very large honor, for me and dad's quilt. Both hang very proudly in my sewing room, this little quilt of mine.

Dress it UP for a Party - Grandma's Plastic GREAT jewelry

There is an annual Gala here at one of our local hospitals, the Mercy Hospital Gala and my husbands company always buys a table (this past Saturday Night). It was very nice to be asked to go this year. I was going through jewelry and started taking pictures for Show - n- Tell Friday.
Grandma's Plastic GREAT jewelry
Long ago my folks were very involved in Eastern Star Chapter ??? At 51, I still don't understand, but they always dressed up, I've had this necklace forever and it goes perfect with a simple dress.
Grandma's Plastic GREAT jewelry
I always think I'm going to wear these, but I've never made it out of the house with them on. The are clips and they hurt. Women before me had stronger ear lopes.
Grandma's Plastic GREAT jewelry
I know in a family you are not to have favorites, but I had a Grandma G who broke the mold. She was one of a kind and this is something she gave me, her charm bracelet with all the grands and greats names and birthdays. I seem to take it out when I miss her.
Grandma's Plastic GREAT jewelry
Grandma G, wore this and I called it her sand paper necklace. So many memories..... I wore my own designed beads and stub earring. But I had a ball going through everything.

Quilters Triangles, How To Make with Triangles with Seven-Eighth Inch Squares

The next step is the triangle. Just like the square if you are not ready to purchase a rotary cutter and mat. You will need to make a freezer paper pattern.  How to do Square's HERE

Take the FINISHED size of the square you want and add 7/8 of an inch.
example:
for a finished size 2 inch square you will cut your fabric 2 7/8" x 2 7/8"
for a finished size 3 inch square you will cut your fabric 3 7/8" x 3 7/8"

for a finished size 4 inch square you will cut your fabric 4 7/8" x 4 7/8"

And so on, either make you freezer paper pattern or up with a rotary cutter and ruler.

Quilters Triangles, How To Make with Seven, Eighth Inch Squares

I've used a 3 inch FINISHED Square cut 3 7/8" x 3 7/8"

A light and a dark.

On the Wrong side of the light fabric draw a line from corner to corner.

This is the cutting line NOT sewing line

On your sewing machine sew a straight seam, 1/4" from the line.

Quilters Triangles, How To Make with Seven, Eighth Inch SquaresTurn and do the same thing on the other side.

(when I have many to sew, I do chain piecing, one right after another, not stopping the machine until all finished and then turn and do the other side)

If NEW do them one at a time.

Cut on the drawn Cutting line.

You have 2 triangles

Open them up and 2 triangles

Press your seam to the dark fabric and trim the end tail off.

This is your finished triangle

GIVE IT A TRY.... IT'S NOT HARD.

I recently posted a block on Facebook and there was a lot of take about points.

Here's how I do it.

Quilters Triangles, How To Make with Seven, Eighth Inch Squares

Pieced together a triangle to a block

Added this as a strip to another piece.  Pin as much as you need, check as you pin to make sure
you have the 1/4 seam allowance.

On this seam I had to move the needle in just 2 threads to make the point perfect.

Press the fabric
