Stain Glass Lamp

Son #2 made this lamp shade in high school and I was the keeper of it for a number of years. I recently returned it to him and I was thrilled to see it used.

It is all hand cut glass, leaded.

I love the pink flowers in it and all the lead lines.

I think it's just about perfect. Thanks for letting me share it.

Grand # 4's Baby Blanket

We have a new arrival on HIS way and Big Brother (Grand #3) is asking,
"Will he get a BB too?"
This may have more to do with sharing his  than worrying about brother......

Well, Grand #4 is getting his own, and Grandma is JUST about finished. I'm sorry but I didn't picture the process, I'm a bit on over drive.

It's a classic pattern and has great color. This quilt is really about the color of the paisley brown working with the other colors in the quilt. I love this paisley and wanted to use it.

The quilt backing is the color of the yellow - tan strips with strips pieced in from brothers new BB he received for Christmas.
Let's see if he notices.  I"m betting he does !

52 Weeks - Fabric's

I'm starting my holiday slow down and trying very hard to take in and enjoy.  I had a question about the fabrics I'm using for my 52 week blocks.
Here's my "How to" on picking fabric

I started with pinks, I pick pinks up all the time, it's the color that I'm always looking for, pinks and paisley's. These are the ones that I started with. This time I had another thought about "Why" pink, but with our family genes, there is no reason for pink and I'm very happy making a "BLUE" quilt, (again). Plus, we know how to do little boys, our Grands are all just about perfect. (Grandma says)

Back to my pink quilt, I then added more and more fabric, doing all 52 weeks, I need quite a bit of fabric.

These are the background fabrics, they are all from my fabric closet.
This is the complete pile of fabrics that are going into my 52 weeks series.  Keep checking back and do the patterns with me.

QSS Santa Quilt 12-18-10

Welcome to Quilt Show Saturday

This is one of the very first quilt blocks I ever drafted by myself.

I made it long, so that a number of people can curl up on the couch and use the same quilt. Nothing better with someone you love !

It's a very simple block, machine pieced and long-arm quilted.

This quilt is 20 plus years old, machine washed and put in the dryer every year.

Even back then I loved Paisley !

Sewing Box

I love moving things around at this time of year, the house seems to take on a different feel with all the decorating done.

This is a sewing box which I purchased at a auction about 10 years ago.

It stands about 18" high, 12" depth, and 20" long

As you can see it has a wing span of over 40 inches.  Before our move here, I used at as my sewing room and I learned very quickly that I had to have move weight in the center than on the wings. It took only one time for it to tip over and I learned the meaning of weight and counter weight.

My little old sewing box and to my Mother, I didn't paint the wood,

Not that I haven't thought about it !

Desk all Finished

The Desk is finished and Daughter-n-law #2 did a wonderful job. The beginning.

She removed the top veneer and sanding the entire piece.
It was re-stained and poly applied too.

Notice, the new handles.

And the cool green chair, Grand's # 1 and # 2 will have a homework place for years to come with a total for desk $8.00, the knobs $10.00, the chair $6.00. for under $25.00 a piece to treasure. Very Nice work.
