Scrappy Hankie Quilt Part 1

I purchased these when we visited my sister in Missouri

I purchase every kind they had and I'm putting them together in a scrappy quilt
Come follow along and if you don't have hankies a large square will do the same thing.

I decided on the pieces I'd use
these hankies are 15 1/2" x 15 1/2"
so after sewing a finished size of 15 x 15"

Pulled out scraps from my closet and started cutting.

For each block you will need to:

Cut 24 2 1/2" x 4 1/2"  Assort colors
Cut 4  - 4" x 4 1/2"  for each row
Cut 4 - 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" for each corner

Assort colors

Piece each row with 6 - 2 1/2" x 4 1/2" and 1 - 4" x 4 1'2"
and 2 corners 4 1/2" x 4 1/2"
Piece sides with 6 - 2 1/2" x 4 1/2" and 1 -  4" x 4 1'2"

Blocks tops and bottoms

These hankies needed a backing I added 100%  muslin

Sew sides on and then
Top and bottom

I did 6 of these blocks
