Old Wooden Door has a Head Board

Looking at the pictures on the blog, I didn't like that there was no headboard.
Husband takes one day off during the week and we headed to a flea market. I mentioned a queen size headboard, but something different. And, look what we found. I liked the full walnut one that said, "Boys Locker Room", he picked this one. I think I'm rubbing off on him?

All the glass is perfect, I cleaned and cleaned.
We had the discussion to paint, I didn't.

He had to move the hinges to the other side so they could be left on,
They look great, old and a bit of rust. Love them.

Pine Tree Quilt Hand Quilting

I've started quilting on a lap quilt, a gift and I'm doing it by hand.

Pine Tree Quilt

I love triangles and the look of them as leaves is very nice. They are cut 2 7/8" x 2 7/8" and the quilt is simple and very attractive. All fabric from my scrap closet and the closet fabric is not going down??

Pine Tree Quilt

As a gift, I do the stitches a bit bigger than usual and this time I'm using pearl cotton thread. The stitches are not toe nail size but bigger than 12 stitches per inch.

Bow Tie Quilt on The Clothes Line

On the Clothes Line

Bow Tie Quilt on The Clothes Line
We have moved a number of times (10) the first move I made with Husband was to Burlington, Iowa. A beautiful town in the south-eastern corner of the state on the Mississippi River. Husband worked around the clock and I found quilts. This is one of the first one's I purchased.
Bow Tie Quilt on The Clothes Line
At the auction I could only see the back of the quilt. Someone over time had sewn the good sides together. Maybe to make it thicker or stronger??
Bow Tie Quilt on The Clothes Line
It was a huge leap of faith and $10.  I sat for an evening with a seam ripper and removed all the threads and I love this quilt. I have it on a table in my sewing room, it's a bit of a catch all table, but I love seeing it.

Bow Tie Quilt on The Clothes Line
Who ever pieced this together took time of match the fabric on both ends of the bow tie. As you can see, in above photo, they did this with all of them.
