A quilt can become something different.

I enjoy the Amish colors and working with them is always fun.

I think this is the first time I used a dark batting and it makes a world of difference with the black fabric.

This is my Great-Grandmothers rocker. A very long time ago, I'd said to my grandmother, "What a great chair," and years later she arrived one day with it for me. With them both ladies gone, I just like setting is in, it brings me peace.

I am in color Heaven, I love it ! !

Paisley Quilt Blocks Done

I took a traditional pattern, change the piecing up and then added color.

Paisley Quilt Blocks Done

There is no complicated piecing here.

The color adds the complication.

Not too do or Full of YOURSELF Quilt !
Full of YOURSELF Quilt, what not to do in Quilting
This is my what not to do quilt and it has never been to a quilt show, until now !

It's the quilt that gives my heart perpetuation's, It's just not right.

Full of YOURSELF Quilt

This quilt is 20+ years old and one of the first times I appliqued and pieced on the same quilt.

Full of YOURSELF Quilt

I think it would be better, IF I added loads more quilting, but that's not going to happen.
Machine pieced and hand appliqued and quilted (some what)

Can you also see that my colors are not right, the applique is lost in the piece work.

Full of YOURSELF Quilt, what not to do in Quilting

This is my, "don't get  full of yourself quilt ! "

It brings me right down to earth, every time !

I've come along way!   HA !

Piecing Paisley

I'm in the sewing room and working with the paisley fabric. Fabric picks

I've always thought about doing a contest piece and I think this will be a try ?

I use the "How to method"  - HERE

There will be a traditional pattern, but the rest, it's going to be me, not for a book, not for sell, not for anyone BUT me !

I need an all about me project, it's been a very long time.

Please notice, that NONE of these patterns, colors are textbook, but they work. ! !
It will be machine pieced, hand appliqued and hand quilted. It will not be done tomorrow and that's alright, I need to start taking me time.... again!

Graduation Quilt from 2000

Graduation Quilt from 2000
When both of our boys graduated from high school, I did a quilt for them to take to college. It was all the thing at the time, and may still be, to do a t-shirt quilt. To me, the boys needed my quilts.

Son #2 graduated in 2000 and I found this great fabric.

It's has 2000 printed on it.

The simple opposite block.

The quilt was machine pieced and long-arm quilted in spring 2000. It's the quilt they curl up under and watch television with still today !

Crazy Paisley Fabric and What to Do with It

I picked up this paisley recently and I love it. Bold, colorful and ready for a quilt.
It's a 100% cotton and after washing it, it became very soft, I ironed and used a bit of spray starch to make cutting easier.

Crazy Paisley Fabric and What to Do with It

I like doing patterns the old way sometimes and this is my start.  I'm sure it will go to the computer, but sitting in my sewing room watching the world go by, I enjoyed the process.

Here's how the fabric is coming together, I think it will be a pieced and applique quilt.

Grand # 4's Baby Blanket

We have a new arrival on HIS way and Big Brother
(Grand #3) is asking,
"Will he get a BB too?"
This may have more to do with sharing his  than worrying about brother......

Baby Boy Quilt in Blue, Yellow and Brown

Well, Grand #4 is getting his own, and Grandma is JUST about finished. I'm sorry but I didn't picture the process, I'm a bit on over drive.
Baby Boy Quilt in Blue, Yellow and Brown

It's a classic pattern and has great color. This quilt is really about the color of the paisley brown working with the other colors in the quilt. I love this paisley and wanted to use it.
Baby Boy Quilt in Blue, Yellow and Brown

The quilt backing is the color of the yellow - tan strips with strips pieced in from brothers new BB he received for Christmas.

Let's see if he notices.  I"m betting he does !
