How to Repair an OLD Quilt - Making an OLD Quilt NEW Again !

I'm always on the look out for old quilts and IF I think I can save them I purchase them. They have to be washable and usable, nothing better to me no matter the temperature is a quilt to cuddle in.

This is a recent purchase !

 There was 3 blocks that needed attention, 
I ALWAYS wash quilts before I mend, this one turned out 
VERY nice, they usually do !

I like making a paper temple for the applique piece I'm adding

Try to make it exact and add seam allowance at the time of cutting (it's easier to do this way)

This is the same fabric, one is the right side 

and one it the back side

Add the seam allowance and cut out piece

Fold down the point and press

Fold the sides over, I like to press everything and I use the tip of the small scissors to hold as the fabric will get HOT !

Applique the pink down

Laundry Room Re-Do - Before and After

I've painted, cleaned and it's DONE

Our little condo has a closet for the Laundry Room and I just didn't like it, plus I couldn't reach the shelf without being on my tip toes !

 I moved everything out of our little kitchen dining area,

 we don't use it. Than went to Lowe's Want to see a grown man shiver in his work boots ?

Walk into Lowe's with a yellow legal pad, tape measure and pictures from pinterest ! ! ! Yes, it was a metal tape measure not cloth, I've learned, they will laugh out loud at you, I know I did it....once.

 

My drying time was less with the cabinets in the air conditioning, in the garage and in Florida, it would have taken quite a bit longer for them to dry. 

 This is 3 coats of the Valspar Latex Enamel Paint

Trick ONE, I get the better brushes HERE, NOT the cheap ones from Lowe's.

White NYLON Brushes.

They wash great and no hairs come out like the other ones !

 

Trick TWO is a BROWN paper sack, paper is the finest sand paper. BUT, it must be a BROWN sack. The only one I had in the house was from a little quilt shop in McKinney, TX, Stitched with Love, their site.  Cut the sack open and I like to fold it in and use just as sand paper, it makes the paint and wood soft !

How often do you move your washer and dryer?

I'm going to have to do it more often...it's been 5 years for me. And, from the looks of it, too LONG !

This is the "AFTER" I love it. Besides time this was not that expensive of a project, cabinets and paint about 150 dollars, 

I like !

Friendship Quilt Block Pattern for YOU to Make and Share

Friendship JULY !Quilt Block Pattern
I have to say this is one of my favorite blocks, mine is machine pieced, hand quilted and framed 

For a refresher on how to's for Square or Triangles

Cutting is for ONE quilt square

Cut 1 Center Pattern Color - 1 1/2" x 1 1/2"

Cut 4 Background Squares 1 1/2" x 1 1/2"

Cut 2 Background Points 1 7/8" x 1 7/8"
Cut 2 Points Pattern Color - 1 7/8" x 1 7/8"
Make Triangles

Piece together the triangles - lay out design

Sew together to form rows, remember use 1/4" inch seam allowance



Sew the row together

To finish the block

Cut 2 Background 3 1/2" x 2" Sew to the top and bottom of the block.

Cut 2 Background 6 1/2" x 2" Sew to the sides of the block

Press well, trim to fit your picture frame 

you can add batting to the back and quilt now, or just frame.

I machine pieced and hand quilted

Husband is On his Way Home !

I have to say,  "I'm ready for Husband to be HOME ! !" 

If not for more than I can sleep at night  ! 

Isn't it funny, how you work all day and never think pretty much anything? And when you lay down at night to sleep your mind goes in hundreds of different directions. And, then again maybe I just missed him? I did.....

I have SO many "honey do" projects for "US" to do the next coming weeks. 

Thanks for letting me share my time this past week, I've been doing these weeks for 36 years and I've never shared ! It's been fun for me and I hope for you !

Third Day HOME ALONE !

It's Day Three, Loving this
Received the phone call (a.m.), Husband is there and they are heading in, I won't hear from him until they come out. They car in, boat in, sleep in tents, fish, blah, blah, blah ! 
I'm sure it's the same way he thinks about me talking about quilts.

I'm home with cabinets, paint, and LOTS of plants, pots and soil, the lanai is MINE. 
Let the planting begin ! 

But, sanding is first,
I hate sanding, but yes they are "NEW" wood cabinets and yes, I'm painting them WHITE. 
A lite sanding and wiped them down to remove everything. I'll paint in the morning ! 

After the sanding I finished 8 quilt blocks, Loving them  !! For some reason with this project having so many fabrics I've just let it all be....a mess

How to Make a Small Ironing Board

 I saw this ironing table on pinterest, my pinterest page if you'd like to follow me HERE 

This was very easy ! 

I purchased a 9.00 wooden TV tray

Took batting, the kind that is used for hot pads, I used 2 layers and an old bath towel folded in half, but you could use just about anything for your top.

The table was VERY hard and Husband helped me stable it all around the outside edge.

A great pinterest project ! I'm getting my sewing room just like "I" like !
