Fun Star Quilt Pattern to Make

Here is a fun quilt block to make, my Nine Patch Star Triangle. Going a bit smaller today, a five inch by five inch quilt block.   This is a really fun block to piece and the colors can match or use scraps. How to make Triangles Quilt block has a finished size of five by five inches. Change the "1" on cutting instructions to a "2" and you will have a ten by ten inches.

Quilt Pattern Nine Patch Star Triangle

Cut 4 White   1 1/2" X 1 1/2"

Cut 4 White   1 7/8” X 1 7/8”
Cut 4 Blue     1 7/8” X 1 7/8”
Make Triangles

Quilt Pattern Nine Patch Star Triangle     
    

Sew together to form triangles
Cut 2 Yellow 1 7/8” X 1 7/8”
Cut 2 Green  1 7/8” X 1 7/8”
Make Triangles

   Sew together to form triangles   
Assemble to form a square Do 4 of these units, to form one block.

Quilt Pattern Nine Patch Star Triangle               

Cut 4 Pink     1 1/2" X 1 1/2"
Cut 4 White   1 1/2" X 1 1/2"
Cut 1 Purple 1 1/2" X 1 1/2"
Sew together as shown

Triangle Quilt Pattern Block - Darting Birds

In the middle of other projects going I needed some sewing time, here for you is my Triangle Quilt Block. This quilt block is six inch by six inches,  please keep stopping back!
 This quilt pattern is, Darting Birds 
and is 6 inch by 6 inch finished quilt block

Cut 3  – 2 ½” x 2 ½”
Cut 3 Colored – 2 7/8”’ x 2 7/8”
Cut 3 White – 2 7/8” x 2 7/8” Make Triangles
Sew as shown

There are MANY ways to sew a quilt triangle.
This is the method that I use, you do you ! !

How to make Triangles Take the finished size, add 7/8" to it and
that's the size you cut your square

Sew Good to good fabric, with a pencil draw a line corner to corner, this is The line you measure your ¼” seam allowance from Sew from edge to edge use a ¼” seam Cut in half on the pencil line, trim threads Open and press to the dark fabric, There will be 2 blocks

This is a pattern I drafted for a quilt for Grand #1 for his birthday. It may have an "Official Name" but to me it's Grand #1's Quilt block.




Quilt Block Finished size 10 ½” x 10 ½”
               


Cut 2 White           3 7/8” x 3 7/8”
Cut 2 Red             3 7/8” x 37/8”
Make the triangles

Cut 5 Blue            2” x 2”
Cut 4 White          2” x 2”

Cut 4 White          5” x 2”
Cut 4 Gray            5” x 2”

Cut 4 Lt. Blue – 4 ½” x 6 ½”

Cut 8 Black – 4 ½” x 2 ½”
Cut 16 Black – 6 ½” x 2 ½”

Make 4 of this block
9 squares per block
Cut 28 Assorted Colors – 2 ½” x 2 ½”


The block center row

Cut 4 Assorted Colors – 2 ½” x 2 ½”

Cut 4 Black – 4 ½” x 2 ½”

Cut 2 Lt. Blue – 4 ½” x 6 ½”



Top and Bottom row – Do 2 Rows

Cut 8 Black – 6 ½” x 2 ½”

Cut 2 Lt. Blue – 4 ½” x 6 ½”


Border Rows – Do 4

Cut 16 Assorted Colors – 2 ½” x 2 ½”

Cut 4 Black – 4 ½” x 2 ½”

This is the seating at Grand #3's soccer game. It's his Daddy's VERY old quilt. I think it is about 15-18 years old... I machine pieced and  had it long arm quilted. The pattern is drafted for you here too ! !

Simple Quick Quilted Table Runner - Part 2

You will have 6, 4-patch quilt blocks, lay them out and 
like how they are placed in your table runner

You will have a process to move fabric, 
I like to fold the top block down making a good to good fabric sandwich

Then stack them from left to right, adding the next block to the bottom of the pile. You will get away you do it, there are no rules just what works best for you.

At the sewing machine, I match up my seam lines, as shown last time.
Pin and sew with your 1/4" seam allowance.


These are your units sewn together.

I fold the left to the center unit, pin once at the top,
and fold the right to the center and pin once at the top.

I match seam lines and pin at the sewing machine
Sew rows together

Press your blocks


Cut 2 border sides - 4 1/2" x 16 1/2"
Sew to the sides, press seam to the outside



Cut 2 border sides - 4 1/2" x 32 1/2"
Sew to the sides, press seam to the outside

Cut the binding 2 1/2" x 98"
