Heart Quilt of Squares and Triangles

One of my very first designs, from over 20 years ago. At that time, I used graph paper and would draw everything out. The idea of learning a computer program ! Was so off my chart.

I pulled out my notes, and at the time I learned to have a color pop in it. This one was a bit of a learning experience.

If you are a Quilter, take photo's of your quilts. I've learned so much from seeing my work from the different eye of my camera.
I have a little old Kodak digital, nothing fancy. (Maybe some day) Try it, it's fun !

Amish Colors Quilted Table Runner

Machine Pieced and Hand quilted

Amish Colors Quilted Table Runner
My First try with the bold colors of solids.
And the first time I understood what I call "Quilting for Meaning". This is a table runner, simple, colors work, but what makes it is the quilting.
Amish Colors Quilted Table Runner, hand quilted
It is hand quilted with very simple hearts. I used a red colored thread and a thin batting that is just enough to hold the stitches.

If, I was to quilt this today, it would have much more hand quilting, and with that would probably loose the simple feel it has..

Black, White and Red Fabric made into a Quilt Block

Black, White and Red Fabric made into a Quilt Block
Hard Block the first time around......

So, I decided to make it AGAIN.

I wanted the color to just off the background and there is nothing better than red to do that. The black was just to make it more masculine, as I think this will become a gift.

I didn't have anything wrong with the pattern, what I had wrong was the order of the instructions.

Black, White and Red Fabric made into a Quilt Block
There are four squares used to make this block.

Here's my finished pattern, just need 6 more of these and I have a quilt.
