Thinking SPRING in Florida

Don't want to rub it in.....BUT, It's SPRING here in Florida. 

I still can't get over it...it's snowing and cold other places and I'm wearing shorts, flip flops and swimming.....NUTS. I went to the garden center yesterday for potting soil and there were FLOWERS every where ! ! !  It's March and they have bedding plants out ! Love it !

 OF course, I brought some home !

Old Quilts from Arcadia, Florida

Spent the day in Arcadia, Florida a little town with LOTS of Antique Shops !And I found Quilts. 

Always ASK, before taking photo's in anyone's shop.Not one No !

All hand done - this would have been purchased, but they didn't take ANY charge or debit cards. and I NEVER have cash !

Always check the condition, open it up, touch and look !

These are water marks ??? I don't know if I could get these out?

Simple 9 patch set on point, with a GREAT blue border.

After all the planning, cutting, sewing and measuring, it's on the wall and I love it.

Floating Squares Quilt - Putting it Together

Let's Quilt Together

We are now ready to put it all together,

Lay the squares out, block one then block two

Play with them and when YOU like the placement.....

Cut 12 Burgundy - 2 1/2" x 5 1/2" 

Sew between the blocks

Press the burgundy to the center each time.

2 rows pieced 

Cut 3 Burgundy - 2 1/2" x 26 1/2"

Sew in between each row

Cut 2 Burgundy - 4 1/2" x 26 1/2"

Sew to the top and bottom

Cut 2 Burgundy - 4 1/2" x 34 1/2"

Sew to the sides

This is block one and you should have 8 of them

Block Two

Cut 8 - Scrap Colors - 3 1/2" x 3 1/2"

Cut 8 Burgundy - 2 1/2" x 3 1/2"

Cut 8 Burgundy - 2 1/2" x 5 1/2"

Sew together   3 1/2" x 3 1/2"

 and 2 1/2" x 3 1/2"

Press to Burgundy
