Quilt Wall - Red, White and Blue Little Quilt

Red, White and Blue Little Quilt
Long ago, (so long ago), I did this quilt. When my father was very sick and after he lost his battle, this is the quilt that I worked on. I quilted and quilted it. I filled so many hours. I remember having so much to do and not being able to do anything but sit and quilt on this little wall quilt.Red, White and Blue Little Quilt
It was some months later and I put it in an area quilt show and over heard someone said, "You'd have to be nuts to quilt like that." You know I was, but in it's way this quilt brought me back.

Years ago, (12 years) this magazine was very popular, and this little quilt of mine was on the cover, a very large honor, for me and dad's quilt. Both hang very proudly in my sewing room, this little quilt of mine.

  1. So Pretty! I have never attempted to quilt - don't think I would be very good at it. Thanks for sharing.

Ohhh...what a beautiful quilt! What an honor to have your pretty quilt photographed for a magazine...and to make the front cover!!! My friend, I'm so sorry about your Dad's passing...I guess we each have our own ways of dealing with these things! I'm just happy that you had your quilting and that it brought you some comfort! Thank you for sharing this fabulous quilt with us today...ohhh my, the all that hand stitching is quite exquisite!!!

  3. What a beautiful tribute to dad! I love the hand quilting. Yes, machine quilting is nice but just doesn't have the same 'heart' to it! What an honor to have it in a magazine ~on the cover! Yes, alot of work, but that is what makes it so very special!
Thanks for visiting me today! I hope you drop by again.
    Blessings!

  5. What a lovely tribute, it is good to have some handi work work occupy your time while healing. Lovely choice of colours too.
