Floating Squares Quilt - Putting it Together

Let's Quilt Together
Floating Squares Quilt
We are now ready to put it all together,
Lay the squares out, block one then block two
Free How to make a floating square quilt pattern.
Play with them and when YOU like the placement.....
Cut 12 Burgundy - 2 1/2" x 5 1/2" 
Sew between the blocks
Press the burgundy to the center each time.

Cut 3 Burgundy - 2 1/2" x 26 1/2"
Sew in between each row

Sew to the top and bottom

Cut 2 Burgundy - 4 1/2" x 34 1/2"
Sew to the sides

Finished Block Size 2 1/2" x 2 1/2"

Cutting for one block

Cut 2 Dark Green - 1 3/4" x 1 3/4"
Cut 2 Background - 1 3/4" x 1 3/4"
Make Triangles

Cut 2 Burgundy - 1" x 1 "
Cut 2 Background - 1" x 1"
Make 4-Patch

Cut 4 Dark Green - 1 1/2" x 1"
Cut 2 Background - 1 1/2 x 3/4"

Sew into rows and rows into block, trim seam allowance to 1/16" 
Mine is machine pieced and hand quilted

Last Step of Nine Patch Quilted Table Topper Tutorial by The Quilt Ladies

Part Four of 9-Patch Table Topper Pattern

Fifteen inches by fifteen inches

15" x 15"


Nine Patch Quilted Table Topper Tutorial

Sew your rows diagonally across

Start at the corner
 These are cut larger than needed
Center your point of the triangle at the center for the 9-patch block
Nine Patch Quilted Table Topper Tutorial

Sew with 1/4" seam allowance the press to the outside,
Cut NOTHING. not seam allowance, not points.

Add the side triangles, even with the edge, let any extra go to the point end.
Sew with 1/4" seam allowance, again,
Cut Nothing, not seam allowance, not points, Press to the outside.

Add opposite side triangle as before.

 Cut 4 outside borders - 2 1/2 " x 11 1/2" sew to each side
Sew 2 of them to the sides
Cut 4 - 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" squares in background color

Take other 2 and add 2 1/2" squares to each corner, sew to the top and bottom.



Cut binding - 2 1/2" x 65"

How to choose quilt fabric colors

I went with the rust color, border, not liking.

Cut 4 Squares - 2 3/4" x 2 3/4"

Cut 4 Squares - 3 1/4" x 3 1/4" Cut from Corner to Corner Half Triangles
these are your edge triangles

Cut 1 Squares - 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" 
Cut from Corner to Corner and again
Cut from Corner to Corner  Quarter Triangles 


9-Patch Quilt Pattern Tutorial.


TIP:
When cutting your corners and side triangles, I always cut them 1/2" to 3/4" larger then needed. Fabric does not stretch and I just cut it down.
