Simple Quick Table Runner Quilt Pattern

With the new machine ready to go and the manual at arms length. I pulled out some pre-cut squares from a giveaway I received years ago. 

I'm going to walk you through the quilt process here a bit. If you are a seasoned quilter,  this is a very straight forward pattern you will need

Cut 24 Assorted Colors - 4 1/2" x 4 1/2"

Cut 2 Border Sides - 4 1/2" x 16 1/2
Cut 2 Border Top and Bottom - 4 1/2" x 32 1/2"

Binding Cut 2 1/2" x 98"

Sew together the 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" squares as shown above, you will have 12 units

I pieced the colors in a general pattern How to Piece Squares 

 Press seams to one side

I like to lay my units out, mix and match the color placement.

This is done so that the corner go together perfect and your square is square

Good fabric to good fabric, seam to seam

Fold each seam in the opposite direction

Sew these 12 into 6, 4-patch blocks, match the seam lines as shown.

I still pin my work, always have and probably always will.

After units are sewn together, press the seam allowance

Back of the 4-patch square, you will have 6 of these blocks.

Little Nine Patch Quilt

 Spent sometime sewing with some scraps I had.

Basic 9 patches, set on ends. I did it in strip piecing, cutting strips  3/4" wide.

The finished quilt is 4 1/2" x 4 1/2"
.

I have been doing a lot of little things, I have a huge project to start, I think I'm procrastinating a bit??

Friendship Star Quilt Pattern

I have to say this is one of my favorite blocks, mine is machine pieced, hand quilted and framed for a holiday gift.

For a refresher on how to's for Square or Triangles

Cut 1 Center Pattern Color - 1 1/2" x 1 1/2"

Cut 4 Background Squares 1 1/2" x 1 1/2"

Cut 2 Background Points 1 7/8" x 1 7/8"
Cut 2 Points Pattern Color - 1 7/8" x 1 7/8"
Make Triangles

Piece together the triangles - lay out design

Sew together to form rows.



Sew the row together

To finish the block

Cut 2 Background 3 1/2" x 2" Sew to the top and bottom of the block.

Cut 2 Background 6 1/2" x 2" Sew to the sides of the block

Press well, you can add batting to the back and quilt now, or just frame.

I machine pieced and hand quilted

My Paisley Fabric Quilt

I love paisley fabric and this is my vacation quilt.

I used a very different palette of colors and patterns, it's just fun.
Before the move this is the quilt that I put away here at the condo. Some times, it's nice to cuddle in a quilt no matter what the temperature is outside. 

It's a very simple pattern, a 2 inch center square and then just log cabin around the outside with 1 inch strips.

The finished size is a square 50" x 50" a good size for curling up on the couch. I used a 100% cotton batting and hand quilted.

The writing of book 8 was so much fun for me. I planned a wedding and had to answer, ask or tell anyone, why or what I wanted. From simple days, to family and friends. It is what I hope my day was about, many years ago.

At the time writing book 8, we lived in Windom, Minnesota. A VERY long way from home and I had some very long days and even longer nights. Son #2 was in high school, working, sports and always busy, Husband had his first retail store and worked 24/7.
And I wrote, the wedding was on.....
I wrote, ate and dreamed of nothing but a wedding, for months and months.
Then came the quilt.
It was overwhelming, everything I've always wanted in a quilt.
This one was designed and done for me, no one else, just me.

There are 12 blocks, pieced on a sewing machine and hand appliqued with
vines and leaves.
