Murphy Bed Arrived

Husband is the number one person to find things on the internet and here's the latest, a Murphy Bed for my sewing room. 

It is so HEAVY and I don't know how we did it, but we did ! 

 Never say NEVER ! 

The last VERY HEAVY Lift ! 

Lifted it on to a chair on one side and then lifted the other side in. We were moving from side to side quick.

DONE AND LOVE IT

Our Group Quilt Project

So many of us at my small quilt group get this magazine that we decided on one of the patterns from
Missouri Star Quilt Co. BLOCK Magazine - HERE 

Book 4 page 20
Each of us was given the back ground fabric 2 - 10" x 10" and we each added any Batik fabric, any color,  2 - 10" x 10"

This is for a Quilt Basket give away at guild (which I'm not a member of?)  42 finished quilt blocks, ready for the winner to put together.

Sandwiched together, sew outside edges - cut apart

 Cut again and then turned

And sewn together

I've not done other's quilt patterns in a long time. This one????

I know it's all about the charm 10" squares, but...

I could do rotary cutting in not much time and be done ! 

But, it's always a good workout for the mind, RIGHT?

Quilting at Missouri Star Quilt Company

ALWAYS ask, 

I just asked if we could see the machine quilting at
Missouri Star Quilt Company in Hamilton, MO. 

I have heard all the stories and wanted to see the process, they purchased the old Post Office, it's all brick and charming.

The people working are WONDERFUL, they shared their time with us and answered all our questions.

WHY ?Tell ME WHY?

I just about CRIED ! !

This is a display in one of the quilt shops I visited recently.
They took fabric bolts, drilled a hole in the middle of them,
put a dowel rode in and fanned them out. 

WHY????

PLEASE tell me WHY

JUST Too COOL - Chair Flower Pots

These are just Wonderful ! ! 

Outside one of the shops in McKinney, TX

I went in and they don't take them in at night, 

the pots are nailed to the chairs and the chairs 

are nailed to the molding on top. FANTASTIC !

How to Painted Wooden Cabinets, My Tricks

Here is my post about my NEW Laundry room Closet. And here are my painting tips 

Trick ONE, I go to Michael's and get the better brush, NOT the cheap ones from Lowes.

White NYLON Brushes, about $4.00 for package.

They wash great and no hairs come out like the other ones !

Trick TWO is a BROWN paper sack, paper is the finest sand paper you can get. BUT, it must be a BROWN sack. 

The only one I had in the house was from a little quilt shop in McKinney, TX, Stitched with Love, their site.  Cut the sack open and I like to fold it in and use just as sand paper, it makes the paint and wood soft ! 

This is the "AFTER" I love it.

Attended my First Amish Quilt Auction

We had a huge thrill attending an Amish Quilt Auction in Jamesport, MO

We couldn't make the night before preview, so I'm taking pictures over people ! BUT, what a day ! ! 

Yes, I asked and was told I could take pictures ! 

I'm making the photo's larger than usual

Most were machine pieced, and ALL hand quilted
I was told, "It was a VERY long winter."

I didn't purchase a quilt.......

I was told the more pieces in the quilt,  the older the quilter

This was done my a very young quilter, 
she laughed when she said,
 "And young doesn't have to be of age, in quilting." 

I was in a Quilter's dream !
